Emily Rahming President, SAHMA September 9, 2008

William,Mona, Jamal:

Your mom and me were only acquintances until October 21, 2002 when the South Andros Handicraft and Manufacturer's Association (SAHMA) was formed. We ended up knowing and loving each other as best friends. She was my travel partner to trade shows, to training courses and where ever SAHMA needed representation.

She was kind and loving and a champion in craft and culture.

She will live on in our hearts.

So sleep on Velma take your rest. We will meet at the craft corner near the palm tree in heaven. 'Until then our hearts will go on singing, until then with joy we will carry on, until the day our eyes behold the city, until the day god calls us home.'

Avis (Ave) You're Always with Me September 9, 2008

Shemona, I cannot even begin to understand, comprehend or visulize what you are going through. My mom and I are very close as well but I wrote these words for you because I know they are also what I will take with me.

Mother you are always with me,

you're the whisper of the leaves

as I walk down the street

You're the smell of bleach

in my kids freshly laundered clothes

You're the cool hands

on our brows when we are not well

you lives inside my laughter.

you're crystalized in my every teardrop

You're the place I came from,

my first home.

you're the map I follow

with every step I take.

You're my fist love my first heartbreak....

and nothing on earth can seperate us.

Not time, not space

Not even death,

will ever seperate you from me

Love you.......................

NOTHING HURTS MORE THAN THE LOSS OF A MOM............

Mona:

I am so close to my mom just as you are to yours so therefore your loss has touched every part of me.  I will definitely miss all the conversations on the phone I had with her talking about our FNM stories! and you telling me, "Boy Nishy let me call my ma just to tell her I love her and to make sure she is alright." and I would reply, "Mona, I think I am going to do the same right now."

But.........the most important thing is that you were close to her and respected her greatly and did everything with her and loved her........this, most definitely, will linger in your heart forever and will help you get through the days ahead.

Love you,

ANISHKA

Marcia Just Wanted to Say..... September 9, 2008

One of the hardest things to do is say goodbye to your mother. I haven't had the privilege of meeting Ms. Sands, but based on the MANY MANY stories 'Mona shared with Casino Services I feel confident in saying she was a great woman who impacted her daughter's life greatly, not only as a mother but as her best friend. I know that the bond 'Mona shared with Ms. Sands is much stronger than this physical life can break and I know she will always hold her close to her heart.

I pray that you and your family find solace in all of the good memories that you shared with your Mom over the years and when you think of her you can smile at that fact she lived a wonderful life and impacted all of you in a positive way!

Glennelle Ft. Lauderdale Family September 9, 2008

My condolences to you Shemona and to your entire family.

Miss her always, remember all your times, this will help you all make it through.

There are no words to express the loss of a mother, I hope you find joy in your memories of her.

Renae Woodside Beautiful Rose Of Sharon September 9, 2008

I have had the distinct pleasure of knowing Mona's Mom only for a brief moment.  During that time, she has always brought sunshine into our hearts and home.  People everywhere in life, from every walk of life have given so many things intangible. However, Mom's high spirited, loving and kind personality was very infectious.  Mom always had a kind word to say & she made you feel welcomed.  Although our meeting was short lived she will surely be missed.  Indeed we can count it all joy to have met such a VIRTUOUS and COURAGEOUS WOMAN.  Sleep on our dearest Mother!  Love Always!!

Francisca "Neecy" Sending my love. September 9, 2008

Mona.....May peace always dwell within your heart, your mother's love always surround you and remember that you always have a friend in me. I pray for your strength and serenity..

May you and your family have my deepest condolences. I pray for God's everlasting love in abundance unto you and yours...

Brian A dove let free September 8, 2008

I never met Ms. Sands in person but I knew her through her daughter Shemona. I heard her voice many early mornings and late nights. Shemona spoke highly of her mother all the time. Even staff members got to know her through  telephone converstaions.  If you didn't know better you would think that they were  sisters. I know if she was anything like her daughter or what she perceived her to be then a sweet woman she was indeed.

Mothers are always missed but never forgotten.

Goodbye but only for now.
